Flowers... flowers ...flowers...

Isn't the month of June one of the most gorgeous months of the year? Strolling round the garden, picking some flowers and berries (ignoring the rampant weeds everywhere), enjoying warm shafts of sunshine (ignoring the rain that keeps falling six or seven times a day) and feeling so blessed and happy that we are allowed to take care of this teeny-weeny clod of earth.

I especially love the abundantly blooming hydrangea.

They are growing rapidly...

Don't they look gorgeous?

And these bushes of pink an blue just begin to intertwine, a lovely mixture of perfectly corresponding colours...

And this bush hasn't decided which colour it loves most...

Pink?

 Purple?

And of course there is a white hydrangea in our garden, as well ...

And they look just wonderful in my little white crocheted vase...

But now I will have a little coffee break, enjoying some other garden flowers in another crocheted vase.

Geez, I really have a soft spot for crocheted vases and an afternoon coffee with a lot of steamed milk...

Hope you have a lovely day!

Hello all!

Under a toadstool crept a wee Elf,
Out of the rain to shelter himself.

Under the toadstool, sound asleep,
Sat a big Dormouse all in a heap.

Trembled the wee Elf, frightened and yet
Fearing to fly away lest he get wet.

To the next shelter—maybe a mile!
Sudden the wee Elf smiled a wee smile.

Tugged till the toadstool toppled in two.
Holding it over him, gaily he flew.

Soon he was safe home, dry as could be.
Soon woke the Dormouse—"Good gracious me!

"Where is my toadstool?" loud he lamented.
—And that's how umbrellas first were invented.

I should carry a toadstool with me everytime I leave the house. The weather here in the Northern part of Germany is very changeable at the moment. Not really summer, hopefully it' ll get better soon.

Have a nice evening!

After Midnight...

It is already well after midnight and I just came home. A friend of mine turned 40 yesterday and she celebrated this big birthday with a feast. We danced a lot and had a good time, others watched the world cup games, quite a lot of children ran around and enjoyed their wild games unobserved. Now I'm sitting quietly in front of the computer, the loud music and the whole soundscape still in my ears and I know that I will need a few moments to calm down.

Happy birthday once again, Alexandra! I wish you all the best, happiness and luck for the years coming. FU as my little Chinese jade stone says.

I proudly present my first project!

Here it is, ta-dah!

I really had to think hard about which project I should show first here on my blog. But actually I knew it in my heart because it is a project I really, really love that much. I took some Stylecraft Special Dk yarn in the colours Meadow, Lipstick, Pomegranate and Fondant.

And then it all started with one little granny square...

Ánd soon I had made a whole bunch of them and arranged them like this:

Do you already know what I'm going to do with these grannies? Yes, you are right! A bag!  The pattern is very simple and it offers so many possibilities to choose the colours you favour. I found it on the blog "a creative being", a wonderful blog with many gorgeous crochet patterns  http://winkieflash.nl
Wink, the owner of that blog, does not only share the crochet pattern with us, she also explains how to line the squares bag. It's perfect.

Here you can see my bag!

I line it with the lovely fabric from Ikea called Rosali. The colours complement one another quite lovely.

I haven't finished the handles though. I want crocheted ones and so I still have a tiny little bit to do. But the bag should look like this:

I really love the handles, I lined them, as well because I don't want them to stretch too much.

I'll show you the whole bag when I have finished it. Have a nice Saturday evening! All around me everybody is looking forward to the World Cup game 'Ghana - Germany' this evening and though I'm not really a football fan I do keep my fingers crossed for the German team.

My first post!

Good Afternoon!

Well, this is quiet a monumental achievement for me! I am not really firm in all this computer stuff and my English hasn't improved since my English studies in the 1990ies but I'll give it a try. A couple of months ago I started crocheting and I stumbled across blogging sites whilst searching through the net for crafty bits and bobs and I realised that there are many likeminded crocheters out there. I want to file my crafty doings so that I can keep an eye on all my ongoing projects - I really have too many of them simultaneously. But I also would like to share my creativeness with others,  and hopefully meet some amazing people to broaden my horizon!
